Monitor-E

Monitor-E satellite imagery

  • spatial resolution up to 8 m;
  • swath width up to 160 km.

Monitor-E was launched on August 26, 2005 with Rokot rocket and space complex from Plesetsk launch area. The satellite is engineered by the Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center. Monitor-E was set into sun-synchronous orbit at the height of 540 km revisiting a particular site each 4-6 days. Purpose design equipment enables panchromatic and multispectral sensing as well as near-real time data transfer. Monitor-E acquires remote sensing data with spatial resolution of 8 m in panchromatic mode (1 band) and 20 m in multispectral mode (3 bands). 2 variants of survey: along track route surveying in the direction of the satellite, and route survey when the satellite deviates from flight route and makes surveying of particular areas upon customer’s order. Monitor-E is fitted with electro-optical purpose-oriented equipment enabling surveying in all 4 bands simultaneously (3 bands of polyzonal facilities and 1 band of panchromatic equipment). Active life - 5 years.

Monitor-E satellite imagery applications

  • Mapping and updating at scale of up to 1: 50 000;
  • Land management, land resources cadastre;
  • Forestry, vegetation and harvesting capacity control;
  • Geological mapping and mineral exploration;
  • Melioration and irrigation control;
  • Environmental monitoring;
  • Emergency control;
  • Application tasks.
