Pleiades satellite imagery

Pleiades High Resolution Program is being held under the supervision of CNES Space Agency of France since 2000 as a part of the European Earth Remote Sensing program.  Pleiades-HR1 and Pleiades-HR2 satellites are to be created under that program. Pleiades satellite is assumed to be set into sun-synchronous orbit at the height of 695 km. Equipment installed at the satellite acquires digital imagery with spatial resolution of 0.6 m in panchromatic mode and 2.8 m in multispectral mode with swath width of 20 km the least. Estimated active life – 5 years.

Pleiades satellite imagery applications

  • Creation and refreshing of topographical maps and special plans up to 1:2000 scale.
  • Assessing and survey of drill site and transportation infrastructure facilities
  • Forest regulation implementation and its health monitoring over time.
  • Agriculture inventory, creation of land use maps and precision farming.
  • Topographical background refreshing for the generation of metropolitan region planning layouts.
  • Inventory and monitoring transport, energy and information communications condition.
  • Extensively used in environmental protection scope.
