Magazine Geomatics was awarded as the best periodical of the year in the contest that was organized within the XVIII All-Russian forum “Today and future of Russian Geoinformation market”. The forum was held on May 24 – 26 in Kirov (Russia) (Picture 1).

According to the tradition the annual forum is the special event for GIS-Association to award the most remarkable achievements of the past year. The survey of the Russian leading GIS experts showed that they consider magazine GEOMATICS the best periodical. Among the editions that took part in this contest there were “Remote sensing data”, “Earth from space”, “Land management”, “Informational Bulletin” (all Russian), “GeoProfile”(Ukraine), etc.

“GEOMATICS is the only magazine gives principal and analytical information about remote sensing”, - M.Y.Zhilenev, deputy head of a department of Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center.

The award ceremony was held in the building of Kirov region administration (picture 2). The prize-winners cup and diploma was presented by the president of GIS-Association S.A.Miller.

Editorial board of the magazine thanks all the authors that take an active part in the development and creation of the magazine. Among them there are heads and specialists of famous Russian and foreign companies, scientific, research and educational institutions that use geoinformation methods based on remote sensing data.
